CalgaryWalks Stampede 101 Wrap Up
As most of you know, it’s been a trying few weeks for most Calgarians following the devastating floods in June.
As the city began picking itself back up, Calgarians and Stampede organizers came to one conclusion, “Stampede must go on”. Now at first, some thought that this was perhaps not the best focus for resources and manpower, but most agreed that the jobs created and overall benefit to the city of having the Stampede go on as planned would be great for the city, its residents, and of course visitors to town.
The CalgaryWalks team got in the spirit quickly, and joined our friends from Tourism Calgary for their annual “First Flip” pancake breakfast on July 4, and had a great time interacting with fellow Calgarians, visitors to the city, and of course, chowing down on a fantastic breakfast. We even got to take part in our city’s declaration that Calgary was now back Open for business (see image below).
We spent most of Stampede week back on tour following some time off during the worst of the floods, and were also fortunate enough to be able to help out some of our family, friends, and also complete strangers with their recovery efforts.
By the time the Stampede was winding down, much like our fellow Calgarians, we were fairly spent, but not too much to enjoy the final night of the chuckwagons and GrandStand show.
Were you able to get out and enjoy any of the Stampede festivities?
