Journey through the city’s highlights and connections to exhibits and buildings that you’ll see at Calgary’s Heritage Park Historical Village. This relaxing tour explores our modern city in contrast with an era gone by. The Tour Guide provides insights, stories and background to the highlights that you’ll see at Calgary’s Heritage Historical Village. Nestled within the bus tour is a visit to the historical park: we drop you off for your own 2 to 3-hour self-guided tour there – and then we pick you up! Upon arrival at the park an historic streetcar ushers you into vintage history for your immersion into our city roots. This is nothing less than a dip into preserved history so that you can experience it at a much more authentic level than merely hearing about it!
At Heritage Park Historical Village over 180 exhibits span western Canadian history from the 1860’s to the 1950’s. Maps in several different languages are available to help tourists from all over the world discover the early pioneers, fur traders and First Nations of the West. Houses, forts, barns, hotels, saloons, schools, hospitals, antique trains, vintage trading posts, live ranch animals or well-site replicas – they’re all here – and much more. Take a ride on an authentic steam train, or a paddle wheeler in the Glenmore Reservoir, or on a carnival ride in the amusement park. Then relax and use the food voucher we provide you for some refreshment at a classic eatery, cafe, ice cream shop, candy store or bakery.
