Explore Indigenous history, early settlers, the North-West Mounted Police, and the legendary spirit of the Calgary Stampede.

Visit The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland, where Calgary’s story began, then head to Smithbilt Hats, makers of Calgary’s iconic white hat. Here, you’ll receive your very own white cowboy hat – a true Calgary welcome – and experience the city’s famous white hat ceremony and oath.

Our guides will provide an engaging and interactive experience that brings our western heritage to life as only a personal experience can.  You’ll be immersed in the western culture with stories, a white hat ceremony, and a meeting with a Northwest Mounted Police Sergeant.  Enjoy the diverse stories and traditions that engage you in the western culture and you’ll experience our western hospitality first hand.

Highlights of this tour range from experiencing a white hat ceremony, to viewing the making of hand-crafted cowboy boots.  Enjoy the stories of ranching,  farm packages, and how the horse became the central figure in Western Canada.  Learn the traditions that make up the Calgary western culture and encounter our western hospitality first-hand.   Discover how our western culture contributes to Calgary being named the friendliest city in the world.

This tour has several stops to help you engage in the western culture experience and provide opportunities for great photos to share later.
